Emulating games that emulate games within themselves. How well does it really work?
I've tried it with Metroid 1 and Rondo of Blood, through their emulated versions in Zero Mission and Dracula X Chronicles respectively.
With Metroid 1, I tried it on my PS Vita. Ran very slow. With Rondo of Blood, I tried it on an actual gaming computer; gameplay was fine, but the first cutscene would not play until the corresponding audio finished playing, with the Maria rescue scene just breaking the game.
This is pointless since I can already emulate the games themselves without having to emulate games that are emulating those said games, but I just find the concept intriguing.
Are there other games out there emulating older games within themselves? I wanna test them out for the shits and giggles.

Off the top of my head, DK64 (arcade DK and ZX Spectrum Jetpac) and Animal Crossing (a lot of NES games).

apparently xbox has panzer dragoon inside of it
so you'd be emulating a saturn game within the xbox
not sure if they are emulating it or its a port tho

You can play GB Pokemon inside of Pokemon Stadium 2. But it never works in N64 emulators

That version is not identical to the original

If your emulator is correctly emulating the outer game's hardware then this should work as well as it ever did on that game's own original hardware...

Animal Crossing (GC) emulates some NES games, there's some information about how it does it. Not the kind of game you can jump straight into the emulated parts though.
