Amerimutt kids would have destroyed them all. Just like they did with the N64 ones.

I agree, they're really neat, and pair better with the minidisc than the weird custom DVD-like cases. Good thing they're still mostly dirty cheap. There's a couple I'd still like to get, fortunately I have almost any US GC game I'd want from back when they were current (outside of Wario World, for which I'm fine with just having a JP copy).

It is the petite size which is great for transport and storage. However, marketing in the US is a huge and important factor. The larger packaging of the US game cases gives a larger canvas for the art to stand out and conforms to the expected size for a ready-made rack or shelf. There's just too many benefits more suited to American tastes than what is befitting of Japanese preferences.

Things have to be bigger in the US to prevent theft

>We should got that in the states. Everyone would have just tossed the cardboard sleeves immediately the same way they tossed the cardboard boxes for other consoles. Then you'd just be left with an unlabelled plastic shell and a disc. The Japanese kept their boxes, so it made more sense there.

Every other Gamecube kid lost their Gameboy Player disk for a reason. The Japanese style of Gamecube cases simply weren't American-proof and they knew it.
