From the looks of it they're giving it the Star Fox treatment. If that's the case, then it'll be a pretty faithful remake. It'll be fine and the new generation can cherish and experience what we experienced.

Not a single new franchise in 25+ years. Nintendo have become the new Disney. MILK and MILK and MILK those franchises, capitalist pigs.

My biggest problem is that the character designs are inconsistent and clash with the realismslop environments. Link looks like an uncanny creepypasta version of himself and everyone else ranges from higher fidelity version of the original to completely different with needless details. Why the fuck did they give the Deku flower enemies tongues and Zelda a big Jew nose, yet keep the townspeople so accurate the original? Everything should be like the latter. In fact, there's a moment in the Direct where they show the Amiibo masks of the original Link and Zelda models and they look better.
The environments don't look terrible in isolation but feel cluttered with unnecessary detail and are obscured by the excessive amount of fog. Seriously, why the fuck is there so much dust and fog? It even drops out of chests now like every chest has a block of dry ice in it.

Looks fun to me. Really enjoyed the Star Fox remake directly after playing my copy on the 64. Both were fun. Only reason I got a switch was for this game but since everyone else is going digitally only I’ve got a bunch of retro era games for the switch 2 w no internet connection needed and the entire game on the card so I’m pretty happy w it.

Why? They're not deleting the N64 version like Blizzard deleted Warcraft 3. You can still boot your N64/Gamecube/VC copy if you don't like emulation (yes I know those are emulation too but you know what I mean)

Ocarina of Time never had any business being put on such a lofty pedestal and being treated as the greatest video game of all time by so many anyway. I will accept that it was an important game for the era but continuing to pretend now for 30 years that it was some flawless masterpiece without equal has always been a joke to anyway that isn't blinded by nostalgia and actually looks at games objectively. It's a good game but can we finally stop pretending it's the pinnacle of the hobby now?

It looks ugly as sin, it disgusts me that I'm born in a generation full of manchild slopeaters that only look forward to the next game to consooooooom because the rest of their lives are shit. The Pokemon fandom used to be the only group like this. Gaming got way too big.

So aside from the voice acting, the remade orchestral soundtrack, and the hyper-realistic graphics, it's set to pretty much be a 1:1 remake in terms of gameplay progression, maps, and dungeon design, right? I have to say I kind of have a problem with this. If it's ultimately still going to play exactly like the 5th-gen game that it is, what's the point of updating all the aesthetics to 9th-gen standards? I wasn't too fond of the 3DS remaster's graphics myself, but at least that still made more sense as a facelift, while still more or less retaining the look of the original. This looks excessive and overindulgent, and just makes me wish they'd have made an entirely new game instead, or if they absolutely had to remake OoT, go the route of a reimagining that would make it more its own thing. It could be they add some new stuff, but if the Starfox 64 remake is anything to go by, I won't hold my breath.

This above all else has pissed me off. There is no reason to shoehorn in a jump button, the fucking PLATFORMING IS DESIGNED AROUND NOT HAVING ONE.

I actually like the stylized hyper-realistic artstyle. Much more palatable than what they did to Starfox and much more interesting than the plain anime-inspired trite we've been subjected to for almost a decade.
It also makes me hard so I will buy ten copies.

>be American millennial
>live in cozy upper-middle class area
>soccer mom buys you a Nintendo 64 because The 700 Club told her that PlayStation games have blood
>parents can also afford you to buy the entire Rareware library
>since you are rich and American, your family are also early adopters of the internet
>lo and behold, everyone else online is also a rich American from a Nintendo 64 household
>Ocarina group masturbation session ensues
>The internet universally agrees that ReDeads are the scariest things ever invented because none of you ever played Silent Hill
>Internet gaming culture is built upon the idea that everyone owned a Nintendo 64 and everyone agrees Ocarina of Time is unambiguously the best game ever made
>Fast forward 20 years
>Euros, Aussies, and working class Americans are now online
>You find out that the Nintendo 64 absolutely fucking bombed outside of middle America and nobody gives a fuck about Ocarina of Time
>Even in the US the N64 was massively outsold by the PS1, let alone abroad
>Persecution complex ensues
>"This can't be........did.....did I shit my pants over Wind Waker's graphics for nothing?"
>Start calling Ocarina underrated due to the fact that people who've played more than 1 fucking game don't think it's the best

Every single time a remake is announced, people start shitting on the original game so hard that it makes you wonder why they're bothering to remake such a fetid piece of trash in the first place. The amount of people I've seen since the trailer dropped claiming that the N64 original is "unplayable" by modern standards is wild.

I don't think it's possible to fully appreciate Ocarina of Time unless you played it in 1998.My grandma saw the Wizard of Oz for the first time when it came out, and I remember her talking about how magical it was to see the first full-color movie. The movie itself totally plays up this new dimension (the boring real world was grayscale, color appears when Dorothy gets to Oz). I've seen this movie many times now, I watched it with my kid, I can appreciate it in all kinds of ways, but I'll never experience the shock of seeing color for the first time. It's hard to overstate how much 3D videogames sucked when Ocarina of Time came out. The best one by far was Mario 64, and (no shade) it felt very abstract and surreal. OoT was the first game that really captured the possibility of 3D and felt like it transported you to this other world. And it does this in a very self-aware way, like the Wizard of Oz did with color—Navi serving as the camera focus for Z-targeting, with all these 3-D puzzles that would not be possible in top-down games.

Looked that up. I'm pretty sure all the niggercattle in the YT comment sections asking "remake this old game pls i love jeet shit in my mouth" and asking Nintendo to hire this man are ecstatic right now. It looks like the typical 9th gen remake.

They added a jump button? To be honest I always hated that I couldn't jump whenever I wanted in the original. I'm one of the people that used to get my athleticism in morrowind up by leaping off cliffs constantly and damaging myself. That's actually a good thing they added, I wonder if it will "break" any sequencing or gameplay.
