Thoughts on the shitty Ghostbusters games? There's the one on the NES, the Atari 2600 one, the Master System one and Ghostbusters II on the NES. Fuck these games! Have a fucking pause button Ghostbusters II! Atleast the Genesis game was good.

What you played was a botched port of the C64 original. Play the Master System version if you want a more streamlined console port.

the stair climbing is legitimately one of the hardest things I've tried to do without any assistance or even turbo buttons. I couldn't make it even halfway up even with ghost bait and protection suits I grinded to buy.

i had the nes game. there was enough going on with it that you could kind of have fun with it as a kid. no i never beat it and fuck those stairs.

The Genesis game is a mediocre sidescroller. David Crane's Ghostbusters is at least interesting. Making it a "Ghostbusters simulator" was smart and cool, it was just too primitive. The later ports should have expanded on the idea, or at least expanded on it in a good way (the stairs level is not a good way). Add more strategic thinking to how you kit out your guys and car, and add onto the idea of the ghosts converging to create the marshmallow man. Make it so ghosts can take over entire buildings if you don't bust ghosts at that location for long enough, causing that area to be dangerous if you drive through, so you have to be careful to prevent ghost buildup in that area for too long. And then you've got this triage thing where you have to pick where to focus your attention. Also, they should've added the black guy! This game could've been a real classic if the task of upgrading it were given to Atlus or any other developer with real vision and talent.
