No. That's how redditors who are muh story think. If you want to post here, you must prioritise gameplay above all else and can't like anything with bad gameplay.

Why does Metal Gear have bad gameplay again?
>inb4 Snake doesn't move like a platformer character, in a non-platformer game, meaning it has bad gameplay

Why do you make threads trying to shit on MGS every day? I think at this point you already got your opinion out and need to shut the fuck up, leave the board and kill yourself.

It's ok to mock low quality threads like these and kill the fags who makes them.

>he breaks games apart into graphic, sound, story, gameplay, challenge, etc
Do you also judge movies based on the camera lens, the extras in the backgrounds, the surround-mixing of the dialogue, and the seat placement?

Yeah I liked the Mario Bros series and those games had THE WORST gameplay

The gameplay is actually the best part of the first few Metal Gear games. The story was holding it back. Metal Gear's stealth is better than Splinter Cell because you can run around and don't have to crouch around slowly like a slow faggot. And Thief is barely a stealth game, it's more like a map exploration game because it's so easy to knock out all the guards; Thief's good, but not in the same way as Metal Gear.

I wouldn't say the gameplay is bad, it's serviceable to decent. It's just that the campaign isn't a very good vehicle for it.

Metal Gear has always been a case of good gameplay but not nearly enough of it though. These games waste too much time with the narrative and cutscenes instead of actually letting you have fun in the environments. The VR missions are great because they let you experience what the game is truly capable of when you aren't getting interrupted by a phone call every 5 minutes

MGS has good gameplay because it understands what it is - a movie game. It's basically a boss rush where you move from room to room and story is the main attraction. It was a more streamlined, linear version of MSX2 games. MGS2 and MGS3 tipped the scale and ruined the pacing by shoving hours of walking around in the first half because they added some new retarded mechanics.

The stealth parts and boss fights are all great, the only part I think is genuinely bad is that one stairwell where you just spam flash grenades.

I think the most frustrating thing is not the controls but inconsistency. In the prison fight, elevator fight, cargo elevator fight, and especially the final escape portion, it felt almost random whether the guards decide to just light you up or run around like retards waiting for you to kill them. At least that's how it felt for me when I recently did a Big Boss playthrough. Meanwhile, with the bosses, like Ocelot, the Ninja, Metal Gear Rex, Liquid Snake, etc. you can win damageless every time if you have the knowledge and skill to do so. The only boss I didn't like was Sniper Wolf 2 because, again, it sometimes felt like she would just stand around waiting to get shot and other times she would pop out and quickscope two-pump you like a Counterstrike player and take away half your life.
