I think it's insane how Mario Kart and F-zero ever used a "PAL conversion" rule in time trials, allowing people to literally play a slower and easier version of a game and submit times to a worldwide scoreboard.

Glad SEGA finally put the foot down with the Dreamcast and told them 50/60hz selector from here on.Resident Evil PAL Saturn is another rather comical example, they did not optimize it in any shape or form except the cutscenes which are tuned for 50hz.

50Hz optimization was always a mistake. Slower but correct is always preferable to faster but a broken mess. Its mathematically impossible to optimize a 60hz game for 50hz without some kind of compromise. Black bars should be fixed on 50hz though. Its stupid how many 50Hz "optimized" games never fixed the one thing that is actually compromise free to fix.

eh. i just emulate the PAL ISOs with 60 FPS Limit. looking good! not sure if it affects gameplay since i mostly play turnbased retros. somehow PAL ISOs for PSX games are easier to find online, or at least that was how it was 20 yrs ago.
