Is this good? It's strangely Blaster Master-shaped, and I love Blaster Master.

Never played it but my father does. He described it as the worst game he has ever played.

Addams Family Values came out in '93 and was expected to be a huge hit like the first. Hence, "You were expecting, maybe, the Addams Family?"

cool concept, annoying execution.

It's a bit rough around some edges, and harsh in difficulty, but it's ultimately playable and has its good parts.
It's not a particularly long game overall, but it's slightly unforgiving in that it makes you do a lot of backtracking if you game over (annoying, even if you keep progress).

You have to grind for awhile at the start of the game to upgrade Fester's gun by killing random enemies in the street and waiting for them to drop gun upgrades (says gun in blue text). In the North American version, enemies also drop downgrades (gun is in pink text) that you have to avoid. If you get all the upgrades to max out the gun and, better yet, if you use a turbo controller or an NES Advantage, it's a better experience. Otherwise everything is a bullet sponge and you have to spam the shit out of the shoot button. Definitely not for everyone. Incredible soundtrack like many Sunsoft games.

If I recall the PAL version is fixed/better. I don't know if it runs correctly on 60hz with emulator

Yeah it's a lot better than the internet gave it credit for. Like it's not amazing but it is a fun game.

I like how this implemented 2 gameplay styles with the first person mazes better than switching from sidescrolling to top-down in Blaster Master, for what it's worth

The US version is garboshit but the PAL version fixes a lot of its problems. It's still just "okay".

Best breakdown of the hitbox an combat bugs in festers quest. It was a coding error that made the game way harder than devs planned due to fucked up gunplay. Returning to the start of game on any death eas also something overlooked as they play tested it wrong (using debug mode warps to do each area one at a time, and the devs dodnt realize how much backtracking and essentially replaying the whole game on a death).https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eZc3S0gSEg0

>Is this good?
no. its one of those nes games overrated by contrarians because its difficult. youve seen everything the game has to offer 30 seconds in.

The game feels like a fever dream, apparently the designer literally got the concept from a dream he had.

Even the haters must admit that soundtrack is badass.
