It's a fun 3D action game, but it's too easy. Crazy mode is recommended for clsssic fans.

Curse has too many balance and design issues to be a great game

contrarians will tell you with a straigh face CV64 is better than Curse and Lament out of spite for IGA

konami did not have the vision to translate castlevania to 3d. what we got was a character action rip off. it took from software to make a true 3d successor to castlevania.

My only gripe is that it seriously needs a run button. It takes way too much time to backtrack even with the portals.

The level design of Curse blows ass. Which sucks cause everything else is cool except the faggot antagonist.

Curse is so close to being a good game. The innocent devil system is a lot of fun. If this team stopped wasting time on slop like Nanobreaker they could have improved on this formula and made an actually good 3D game for once.a sequel featuring: >multiple IDs at a time >AI customization options for your IDs >actual level design and not just literal hallways for your entire fucking game, interconnected map like the igavanias >better graphics (Curse looks like shit for a 2005 PS2 game) would have been honestly great

Lament is decent but clearly low-budget Curse just kind of sucks ass honestly (outside of the music)

For every God Hand, Viewtiful Joe, Kingdom Hearts, and NG04/NGB, you had these games where everything was poorly designed. The mechanics feel half-baked, and the gameplay loop is kind of random. Few games are consistent. What good are fancy combos and mechanics if the overall package is mediocre?

Only tried Lament and the level design was Persona 3 Tartarus tier (i.e. just hallways and square rooms with very little unique geometry) and the combat was super janky, so I noped out pretty quickly.

I love Curse but even I can't defend the amount of padding the game has because of bad level design and backtracking.

I love CoD. Shame I stopped playing my perfect run because I couldn't for the life of me time the Reaper/Death steal for the Pumpkin devil.

I like them, but the first one has pretty bad level design. Too many long boring corridors. I'm still waiting for Konami to port these games to Steam, as I would love to replay them again.

I don't like Curse of Darkness. It was like a lazy cash grab. An "easy way out" for Castlevania fans >DUDE Lament of Innocence is boring and the music sucks >Curse of Darkness has the most generic run of the mill sounding OST to placate casual fans >the gameplay is generic DMC style shit more than lament of innocence >over the top gay anime villians

I liked Lament of Innocence. Played it maybe 2 Octobers ago. Maybe it slightly drags, maybe it's slightly easy. But I liked the way the game looks and sounds out of my CRT. It's solid. Metroid Prime is obviously the more interesting 3D metroidvania for its time, lament of Innocence is mostly hallways and rooms. But there is enough there, it's very PS2core in kind of a good way. The character design, accompanying artwork, save rooms, and even the story are compelling. Leon Belmont is a minor hero of mine.Curse of Darkness could not hold my interest though, I'm sorry. That's probably how it goes for these + the n64 ones. "Mileage may vary"

lament will always be one of my favorites simply because they actually got me with that you can't actually save your woman scene. From that point on the story skyrocketed upwards and leon's performance was, although campy, incredible.

I started playing Lament of Innocence for the first time about 2 weeks ago. On Crazy Mode too, since I heard the game was too easy otherwise. I stopped playing for a bit, probably because I got my arse handed to me dozens of times by Medusa lol, but I just loaded the game up again and rocked her shit after about 6 attempts. That feeling of dealing the finishing blow was super satisfying, and honestly so far I think Crazy Mode is how you should be playing LOI.

Glad anons are trying Crazy mode. It really is the right balance of enemy difficulty that will make you actually care about sub weapons and using orbs and relics in order to maximize your power against the hordes of enemies.

Is there any reason why the camera in Lament of Innocence refuses to snap to the bosses?

Curse of Darkness is definitely pretty cool. I wish I still had my write-ups from the 2000s because I've forgotten most of it. But I do remember the repetitive rooms. Not the end of the world but also can't say the game is flawless

Lament was kind of meh. Curse is ok. The second challenge tower is hard as balls though, what were they thinking

It's tendiespam, they dislike any game that's available on multiple platforms unless it's the tendie version, and they especially dislike DISLOYAL companies like Konami and Square who 'defected' from Nintendo, that's why you always see the tendie community managers here beefing about FF7 and the non-tendie Castlevanias.

i really liked Curse. thought it was an enjoyable 7/10 game. once spent an hour trying to steal from dracula and had a laugh when it was just tomato juice..

They're good, but people hold the series to a pretty high standard. Lament in particular falls a bit short of the top-tier action games on the console.

I liked Curse of Darkness. I wouldn't consider it a great game, but I do consider it a game. It also did have the best Legion fight in the series, shit was capital spook. I actually liked the infinite(not really) tower for pure autismo damage rush enjoyment, and the "twist" at the top sir, another tower has just hit the 'vania. Also Trevor looks like (and is) a fucking badass in this. It's a definite improvement on its predecessor, because..:I don't care for Lament of Innocence because I don't like when late-generation developer try to revisit the "origins" of their story and do it in a way that conflicts with the shared cultural context we had of it as children. Sorry, I'm just not gonna accept the canonicity of your retcons. I know, haha, sorry, etc. I don't need to hear some gay psychosexual drama or deep five nights at freddys lore origins of the whip. Simon Belmont is a big muscle man and he kills vampires and doesnt afraid of anything, that's the story.
