I have an actual sega saturn gamepad that I use for most retro games but I have to whip out the playstation controller to play the saturn's supposed flagship game because that one has an analog stick.

It's a shame we have no sales data for the west, so it's forever listed as "selling 500k units" for retards who don't click on sources and don't realize those are only Japanese sales. Considering the amount of excellent coverage it got and how easy and cheap it is to find for a Saturn game, it probably sold a LOT. It's one of those games most Saturn owners had like Daytona in the US or Sega Rally in Europe.

The tranny angle for NiGHTS is silly when you consider that the game's two actual protagonist, Elliot and Claris, are as gendered as they could possibly be. Boy with blue hair who plays basketball and girl with pink hair who sings.
I like NiGHTS but you can definitely tell that Sonic Team were insane egomaniacs for making it instead of a Sonic game. The entire game smacks of madness. They thought they could get away with anything during the Saturn. They didn't have to make Sonic, they could make a retardedly niche score attack game with fruity presentation and a fucking online multiplayer 3D action game with Burning Rangers. But at least NiGHTS is fun, Burning Rangers just sucks. Sonic Team never really recovered from the Saturn, that air of autistic insanity continues even to the modern day despite being comprised of mostly different people
