It's incredible how in basically every possible case the marketing for games in this era regardless of the content of the game itself got turned into faux-edgy dudebro rubbish. The game could be "The Muppets Minigolf Adventure" meant for 5-year olds and the magazine ad would still somehow turn out >HERE'S A GAME WHERE YOU SINK IT INTO A HOLE, ALMOST AS FUN AS SINKING IT, AS IN A PENIS, INTO ANOTHER HOLE, AS IN A WET PUSSY AM I RIGHT? ALSO THIS IS THE MOST BRUTALLY DIFFICULT GAME EVER WHICH YOU CAN'T HANDLE AND IT WILL TURN YOU INTO IT'S BITCH! In retrospect is it really that surprising the industry would soon get overrun by the Anita Sarkeesian types a few years later then, especially hitting the countries where this kind of dudebro gaming culture was the most popular hardest?
