[/vp/thread/59671580#p59678583] Reading fanfiction. I appreciate when an author attempts to integrate or reconstruct elements of the setting in a manner that is internally consistent. To expand on what that other anon said, humans haven't actually been confirmed as having a type at all and are generally implied to be a different sort of being from pokémon. They don't evolve, but still experience significant physical changes over their lifespan, don't tap into universal pokespeech like pokémon (N excepted) and aren't depicted as ever using "moves" like a pokémon does. However if an author wants to start from the premise that humans are pokémon and thus have a type, normal type is a bad choice. Rather than reiterating why it's a bad fit mechanically, I'll put it a different way: humans having normal typing restricts their ability to interact with ghost-types and ghost-types moves unnecessarily. It creates a narrative restriction where there previously was none, that either must be explained or avoided. If it isn't, it creates cognitive dissonance and brings the audience out of the story. Many explanations for it are also bad or counterproductive. For example, you have decided to make humans pokémon in your interpretation of the setting to make it so they aren't a special existence, just a part of nature like everything else. If you make them normal type, but allow them to get soul drained by ghosts or whatever, you must explain what makes them special compared to other normal types, undermining the whole point of making humans not special to begin with. If you make that a universal trait of ghost types, you undermine one of the most famous and notable aspects of normal typing, thus making the audience wonder why you chose to do it at all. Indeed, if you avoid the ghost question entirely, why bother making humans normal type? If you aren't interested in thinking about and discussing choices you make while writing, what are you even doing in a fanfic thread?

Pokemon are hit with special Infinity Energy rays which interact with their life force and at first increase their stats and abilities, but also the stress their bodies have to endure. Continued irradiation increases the stress, until it reaches a point when their bodies can no longer deal with such high amounts of energy, resulting in a collapse or organ failure. Results vary, depending how resistant individual pokemon are. Aside from the risk of enchancing the enemy, it's a versatile weapon which can be virtually used against any pokemon, as long as risks are assessed accordingly.

304 out of 442 pages proof read.I'm at the part of the story where I felt the pacing was a bit too fast, but I can't think of a good way to slow it down without bogging down an already long chapter. Is it too dull when a plan actually comes together as planned? Sometimes crazy ideas just need to work.
