Are fire types really THAT important for them to dominate the discussion of these games?

No, but even then platinum addresses this moderately well I would say and is all anyone should play regarding Sinnoh. Fire is just a weird type as being one of the available options for a starter it feels like a "basic" type you'll find numerous alternative options for like grass and water but in reality fire is actually not too common, especially in comparison to those other two. It's a good offensive type generally but I think a lot of people see it as a "staple" type to have despite it usually providing few options outside of the starter.

Yeah, the Pokemon distribution as a whole is complete dogshit, not just fire typesThis game isn’t fun unless you have a fetish for watching the same 3 kanto pokemon .pngs slide across the screen every 10 seconds

Fire types are great starter Pokemon but aren't great for late game teams.

>no fire types
>evolutions for pokemon that didn't need one
>Fuckton of mythical and legendary pokemon
DPPt are pretty bad, but not Johto bad. It's a shame pokemon inherently punishes unique pokemon like Snover with bad typing.

I don't think its a deal breaker but it is an odd design choice and you notice it on a casual playthrough.

There is no defense for them having so many new evolutions not be available until post game because MUH 151.

Not really. Both the special/physical split and the fleshing out of several movepools this generation make the whole fire-type thing a nonissue.Casual players like the idea of having the fire-type as the party's characteristic aggressor for their own unique narrative journey as the player (Pokemon's primary appeal), so it perhaps it feels like a missing character to many. However, in practice, it's not required for gameplay at all. Honestly, you'd presume it'd promote more creative team-building (though, infamously, all casuals typically run the same team on their first Sinnoh playthrough). What are people really wanting? I doubt they'd be adding Slugma, Numel, or Torkoal to their parties. I bet if just the Aracanine line alone, something fast and cool, was in DP, this talking point would never exist. I was 10 when DP came out and I didn't even notice this "problem."

I replayed DP and found out I really liked the dex.
I want tighter pokedexes. With big dexes nothing matters. If you want a Fire type you have like 10 options. In DP if you don't want the two available you got to try and be more creative with Fire TMs or maybe consider other types, that's more engaging.

>platinum has better fire types than any johto or hoenn game before it
>easiest game to farm flamethrower tms in
>easy as fuck to farm shards to use with the move tutor for fire punch/fang
nope, which is why retarded faggots like

What do you get out of being contrarian towards people who don't like the only Fire types available being the starter or a two stage stone evolution from Kanto?

>conversation shifts from pokemon distributions to difficulty to DP vs USUM
See what happens when your premise is faulty? You have no point so the conversation goes all over the place.

The cold hard truth is that Fire has always been a much rarer type compared to Grass and Water. Yes, it's at its worst in DP, but every Pokemon game prior to the 3D era has pretty minimal options for fire types outside of their respective fire starter, let alone actually good ones.
There's a pretty simple explanation for this, that just being that unlike the two other starter types, fire does not have a common environment associated with it. The two most common places you'll find pokemon are literally water and grass. The only environments associated with fire pokemon are volcanoes and arguably deserts, which also tend to have a lot of rock and ground pokemon, and usually a grass pokemon or two in the case of deserts (cacnea, maractus, or bramblin).
Fire pokemon just don't get much of a chance to show up in the wild, especially in Sinnoh, what with it being the coldest region.

The DP regional dex as a whole is way too limited. Only 150 Pokemon, too many Water types, not enough Fire type, filled with Kanto shitmons you've already used a dozen times in previous games.

My favorite part is that fire actually kinda sucks in sinnoh, (sucks overall because weak to water and ground), but infernape is good enough to escape that issue.
