Hewwo, anyone good with photography here? What are your opinions on the ricoh gr cameras? I like how they are small and compact, but I'm not too sure if I can use them for BJD/mma/warhammer photography.

something to consider, the people here are heavily biased towards DSLR and vintage lenses which do usually benefit more from tripods due to DSLR and older stuff generally lacking in-body/lens stabilization. IBIS is basically standard on mirrorless cameras and that plus lens stabilization means that you can get shots without the tripod as long as you aren't some coked up drughead with shaky hands. so that's why I generally tell newbies to go for a mirrorless if you can afford it. even entry level mirrorless cameras aren't that much more expensive these days

so for photography a 90mm lens will be great for portraits of your dolls since it compresses the image nicely unlike 28/50mm additionally, mirror less is fine, all the brands are good as long as it has phase detect af

looking into the ricoh gr stuff, it seems like a nice camera specifically for general street photography. slightly wide-ish 40mm focal length, decent f/2.8 aperture, and small handheld size for impromptu pictures of daily life. you could probably take some good BJD photos with it I think

My first real camera I could use constantly was a DSi and I took some great shots with it and used it so much the shoulder buttons literally stopped working. (This was before I had dolls, of course.) Therefore use whatever you have and go from there and you will surely improve with time.

The third arm first iteration seems to be good. I cut a shoulder section in half, it matches the lower hips really close. I can probably grind it a little more flush, the opening on the hip can probably be smaller then. Abomination-chan is the only base body i had laying around, she's not getting more arms.

I was able to fit 4 dolls in my "personal item" bag when I flew to Japan in 2023, but it was a really tight fit. I'd rather just stick to 2, maybe 3, this time. Some notes for consideration: - Claire is on a Dollbot body, so she's not eligible for attendance at Dolpa. I didn't want her to feel left out so I included her in the photo with everyone else. (I've been wanting to take a full group photo of my girls for a long time). - I recently got two capsule doll bags made by Odekeke Ougoku (odekeke.booth.pm) which are pink and blue, so I'm sort of leaning toward the two catgirls, Ichigo and Sora. But that is if I even take the bags (or even just one). They aren't collapsible and they take up a lot of space in the suitcase (I think I'll have to stuff them with my clothes or something). Also, still nothing about an official /bjd/ meetup?

A couple months ago, for my birthday, I took Eryna to this fantasy-themed place in Knoxville called Ancient Lore Village. Unfortunately I caught a cold just in time for the trip, so I felt like shit and didn't get as many pictures as I hoped. In fact, I took most of the pictures on the morning that I checked out. I really wanted to get some evening/night shots of the village. Maybe I'll go back again next year or something. Anyway, I've been lazy about editing the photos so I can share them. I did do a few before, but I hadn't finished going through them so I haven't shared any. Now I want to share a few that I do have ready because I really like the photos. I won't be doing any editing of the ones I have yet to go through today for obvious reasons, so there may be more to come in the future.
