see the problem is that stone is basically in my hometown back yard and ipas were really popping off at the time when I turned 21. my first beer was a stone ipa, and that fucked up my taste in beer straight from the getgo. can’t do a pilsner or anything paler than amber. imperial stouts and porter are peak beer tho.

Holy fuck I had no idea the ABV was that high. My little brother and his alkie friends all drink it religiously and now I guess I know why. I guess that explains why most of them are full of fruity sweet bullshit too.I can't even drink beer that strong anymore, it fucks me up, way worse than even the same amount of alcohol consumed in a larger number of weaker beers.

As an alkie, Goose Island's Beer Hug and Victory's Monkey lines do a much better job as "reasonably drinkable fuck-off strong IPA" than Voodoo Ranger. VR's fruity ones are sickeningly sweet and their straight IPAs are mediocre.
