Because heat has a hard time penetrating thick things like orbs, the outside would be burned while the middle is still cold or raw.This would only work in small, bite-sized things like a really complex ravioli, but then you have all these extra steps you have to repeat for every single one you make.Eventually you come to the realization that a flat, layered dish like a casserole or meat pie is the ideal "all in one" type meal.
