My pizza hut got rid of its booth seating and the chandeliers. And replaced with cheap chairs. For some reason, hopefully not a pointless one.
What killed their indoor dining so hard?

they don't want people dining in. it requires so much more in staffing and maintenance, they're trying to influence their customers to get takeout pizza and not be comfortable dining in.There's a whole branch of behavioural science that business use to get their desired behaviours from their customers. Lots of cafes with limited space deliberately design for poor acoustics because it keeps people from loitering and occupying stools and tables for too long. You can reduce the average dine-in time at a cafe from 20mins to 4mins just by tweaking the reverb time, early reflection pattern, and reducing the critical distance

It's a shame. Most Pizza Hut restaurants in Asia are still premium sit-down dining. The one near my place even uses robots to bring pizzas to your table.
McDonald's also has robots here

My Pizza Hut burned down years ago and still hasn't been rebuilt. The next closest one has no dining area. I'm more mad they charge $2 extra for pan pizza these days, what bullshit.
