I have a bunch of Le Creuset and I love them. If you don't want to spend the money on LC and don't want the weight of Lodge, deBuyers makes a great carbon steel line
Also if you DO get Lodge don't be one of those faggots who never uses acid or seasons it 4000 times with rapeseed oil before cooking on it: its a hunk of fucking metal, just use extra fat, clean it and store it dry

for dutch oven I think lodge and le creuset do quite the same thing except le creuset looks nicer.for me after using a shitty saute pans for so long I slurped on the D3 all clad skillet set for less than 200 cad. it has been a great investment ever since.imagine buying hundreds to thousand in steaks per year and cheap out of the pan.

I like my lodge skillets and sourdough bread pan, I use it for frying too. Le Creuset for enamel dutch oven. Staub for cast iron dutch oven. All-Clad for basically everything else. Honestly, my de Buyer is probably my least favorite in a home setting.

I like crustey’s light interior, but I like the feature of the dimples on staub’s lids, and the interior finish appears to sear better in side by side tests. I think they look better too

Just wait for Staub to have a sale, you can get a 7qt for under $300, sometimes under $250. You definitely get better performance and looks with Le Creuset but at $400 you’re mostly paying for looks, especially when Staub is only $50 more and actually performs like top commercial cookware

I got the "made in the U.S" enameled cast iron from Lodge because they stopped production. It's worked pretty well for me. They still have some in stock on their site but you're probably better off getting one from someone who will still be able to fulfil the warranty.

I have 2 copies of the 4qt amazon.com version. (they are really 3.5qt) The knob on top actually states "amazon" lol. I have one in my lake house, and it's only used once a month or so on average. But, they are both holding up now strong after 3-4 years. One is cream colored, the other is the avocado cream looking color. Outstanding, and come clean easily.

My 1200$ aluminum pans are super high quality and handmade (in china) they only give off minimal (a lot) amyloyd plaques that clog up your brain and cause alzheimers. Btw aluminum + salt + fat = cancer

I literally got like a $30 no-name 8qt dutch oven from home goods five years ago and it has been absolutely great. I use it for bread making, braising, soups/stews/chili, and general bulk cooking. I can tell you from growing up in a home with le creuset dutch ovens that the performance and quality is virtually identical.
