Social media set unrealistic expectations for people.
People browse tiktok and see other people living insane lives with constant expensive traveling, with fancy cars, with rich dinners, etc.
It set a new baseline for what "normal" should be. In previous generations you'd only see that insane quality of life from people on TV/movies, it was another world that was unattainable unless you uprooted your life and moved to become an actor and hope to be a celebrity, which everyone recognized as unrealistic.
So the "normal" was people you saw around you, all the people working shitty jobs just to afford rent and save some money, maybe work their way into management and afford a home one day. You didn't have the expectation of living a rich person's life, so you were content with where you were.
But nowadays, it's like the equivalent of a 4/10 women that had a one night stand with a 10/10 chad, it set a new baseline and now she doesn't want to settle for anything less. Her expectations are now at 10/10 and she will be forever discontent with a looksmatched 4/10 man, or even an 8/10 man.And of course a declining white population, higher cost of living, wages eaten by inflation, etc.
