A few days ago was my 20th birthday, and I can't help but realize how much time I've wasted. I don't have any concrete plans or real desires in life, and have been simply floating by for god knows how long. It feels like every time I'm given an opportunity to turn my life around I refuse it, but maybe things are only obvious in retrospect. I guess what I'm asking is - how do I go from not wanting anything for myself to actively pursuing things? I've got a job and I just started going to the gym, but surely there's more to life. I don't even play games anymore, I just waste my time lurking here and other sites in my free time. Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is formatted like shit, I'm tired.

Felt the same on my 20th (21 now). If you're already feeling that way you're probably on the right track to actively pursuing things.I can't really tell what you'd be interested in outside of your post, but if you're already physically active, maybe try and get into a few sports? Just find a couple friends that'd be interested in playing or get involved with any local clubs. If you want some more general advice the best I can give is just to try out everything until something clicks, find out what's going on in your local area, ask your friends about their interests/hobbies, ask your co-workers about theirs. Not only will it give you some guidance on what to pursue but it'll also give you something to talk about with them. You might not be super interested in every hobby that they have, but at least you'll have tried something new.

Start asking your self “What do you want?” earnestly. Try to find what you really desire, and build steps to accomplish it. Take at least a small step every day.
