How stupid is it to get a degree in AI at the advent of AI?
Like, this is obviously just a cashgrab from Universities, preying on students looking for a safe job or those afraid of AI.
Why would I or anyone else for that matter take up an AI degree when we don't even know if such a degree will even be useful in the future or what new jobs AI will even create (besides prompters)?

I agree with you. If you're interested in AI, get a CS or Linguistics degree. If AI goes belly up, you'll still be able to get a job elsewhere.

Some people - I grant not the majority - go to college to learn stuff because they're interested in it, and not just in hope of a guaranteed job.
