my friends and i go clubbing every so often and we go to predominantly straight clubs. i’m gay but i’m not too into gay culture to notice/give subtle clues. i know i can always go to gay clubs but my friends don’t have positive experiences and avoid them. nor do i feel comfortable going to a club alone. what are signs i can give/be on the look out for? we’re going to a club in west hollywood later tonight, and it’s been a while since i’ve had a good make out. (idk if it’s important but i am a bottom lol)

If you find another gay person you should ask them to introduce you to their other gay friends (with hopefully more experience) and they can go to clubs with you if you’re uncomfortable alone. They might also give tips to find out if someone is gay.I will tell you what works for me in case it’s helpful. When I see an attractive woman at the club, I start a conversation, usually by complimenting her. Then depending on how the conversation goes, I try to steer it towards the question whether she has a boyfriend. If she doesn’t, I ask if she’s gay. If she is, jackpot. If not, just be friends and dance anyway. It is probably much more difficult for men because men insulted by that question.
