Does anyone else fear forgetting things and lettting them fade into obscurity? Old classmates that you don't talk to or that have dropped out, failed talking stages, one night stands, old friends from college, childhood friends, all the school teachers even assistant teachers you had? Even the grocery clerk from that store around the corner in your childhood. Do you fear forgetting them? Does it feel you with sadness to do so? How many people have I already forgotten...names I can't remember, faces...why does it fill me with such heavy sadness. Almost like I want to open a word document right know and write down everyone I've ever known. What is this feeling? I feel like this is the best place to discuss this.

OP here, to add onto this. I am also obsessed with archiving and categorizing things....old images, videos, pictures, memes, poetry and prose I have...I need to mention that I could possibly be autistic but you've probably figured that out if you've read this far. Everything feels so fucking surreal now.

Just do Anki flashcards if you don't want to forget stuff, you can even make flashcards with photos/names so that you don't forget people

You will forget it all but then remember it again at random times but it's so far away it would just feel awkward to reconnect. That's how it is for me. But there's no fear it just is what it is. I forgot all about some important shit and remembered like 15 20 years too late.

for me it is somewhat the opposite, good memories I have to think on them, and may only come up with a trigger that makes me remember.
but bad ones holy shit I could write a fucking manuscript of them by date and location and participants. its like a record button switches when im in an actively bad situation at it stays with me even after decades, and a lot more vividly than the best experiences I had.
Wish I could forget these completely as they are as painful as on day one.
