He plugs into the Heaven Realm of the Adam Tree and gets stronger for whatever reason. >Imu refuses to accept defeat and doubles down. >Chopper appears out of nowhere and separates Imu from his Devil Fruit while Usopp gives some speech. >The Devil's Fruit respawns in Mariejois. The oni, the ancient giants, the bucaneers, regular giants, lunarians, they were all allies of the ancient kingdom because they all traced their origins back to the first world, and they were all large. Imu gets bigger as he progresses through hybrid modes towards the final form because devil fruits true forms are based on the people that had the power first.
