if leg punches were allowed in boxing

If punches below the belt, more specifically punches to the thigh, knee and calf were allowed in Boxing, would they affect the meta at all? Some stances are so wide and heavy that I think a good hook to the side of the knee could fuck someone up. Punching the thigh would only work if done repeatedly, I think. Now calf punches sound absurd lol, but I think in some fights were guys have wildly different frames I think it could be used.

Benson Henderson punched to the thigh a bit. It got his opponent to drop his guard, but I think only out of sheer confusion.

Filipino martial arts has this really obstinate insistence that all knife and stick MUST transfer to empty hands. To be fair, a lot of it does! Like more than people think.This is just a case where they're just wrong and stubborn about it.
