Who stood out for you this basho? For me its Takahara from Futagoyama, I know he's a high school stand out but its his first year as a pro and I thought he'd be too small, too inexperienced, and not strong enough to compete in Makushita but he held his own and KK'd. I say keep an eye on him.

I think the number of tournaments should be reduced to four, one for each season. Six tournaments in a year is great financially and for the fans but it's ripping the bodies of the sumo wrestlers apart. In a sport where recruitment numbers are already historic low, sumo needs to retain it's established wrestlers even more so. Fewer tournaments means more time to heal up and recover.
