No belts. Belts are a retarded scam designed for the sole purpose of selling retards shit they don’t need.
It’s also notoriously widespread within the meme “martial arts”. Put your average karate fag with his black belt and gay robe into a ring with an experienced mma fighter and watch the larp end.

In an ideal world only white then black. Maybe a middle rank to show progression. Belts are a fun system to track your growth but they do more harm than good especially the egos that come from dan ranks.

I like Judo's system
There is a set curriculum, and you have to demonstrate proficiency with said curriculum to advance. No subjectivity or arbitrary "I just don't think you're good enough yet".
Granted, this may lead to disparities in actual performance on the mat, where a lower belt will be able to trash a higher belt, but imo it makes sense from the standpoint that belts represent your knowledge and understanding of the art, not your health, athleticism, natural talent etc which all impact how good of a fighter you are
