A new mandela effect popped up a month ago over Zira's death scene in Lion King 2. A Youtuber uploaded a short about the original death scene being changed and some people in the comments swear they grew up watching the deleted scene version, even though a finished version of that doesn't exist. It always did, but the star outline is so faint on some flags that it may appear hard to see. On the other hand the older version of the Chinese communist flag does not have a star so you might be confusing them.

One is the flag of Soviet Russia and the other is the flag of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union flag is the one everybody remembers, but the other one existed, technically, but rarely used.
