I dont wanna say demonic, but I remember when I was a teen I got DS 2 for PS3 and I had to stop playing because even when I was just intiating the game I would get this cold dreadful feeling in my chest, like something was really wrong with this shit. I would enjoy the challenge yes, the mechanics and the conquest, but the whole atmosphere was extremely depressing and desolate and a barrier for me to enjoy the game, it just felt hopeless. I cant get how people started promoting this game as a way out of depression, it just absurd for me, the whole game sees to be impregnated with a sense of hopelessness, and sadness. What was curious to me was that all these feeling that I would get transmited were not real, I mean I would turn off the console and it would go away, it seemed like the game itself was a portal to some depressing low astral realm that evoked those feelings, so to speak. Maybe im too much of a sensitive pussy, yeah, but im not gonna mention the fact that is full of occult themes, and subversions of christianity, which seem to be just a secular view from its japanase creators or maybe there is intent...? Anyway do you consider these games /x/?

To put it simply, the soulsborne games are heroes journey initiation rituals, like most modern games really. The games are mostly about either destroying a decaying world (dark fantasy theme that you're spooked by/modernity allegory), continuing it or making a new one.

It's 'off' because it's a mirror angle. Imagine you'd learnt everything about japanese mythology, then turned around and reimagined it from a western viewpoint, start to finish. That's Dark Souls. It's a weird grecoroman pastiche from their view. It's familiar and alien at the same time and sets off your uncanny valley reflex, mentally. It's art. I once had an insane notebook where I went through mapping manifestations and parallels to Western culture. Give it a shot yourself, it's easier than you might think.

>there’s something demonic about this game with demons in it guys This could’ve been just a humiliating message in one of the schizo discord servers you’re in, didn’t need to be a thread.

isn't that kind of the point? like on a different topic, I have to be in a certain mood to play something like Silent Hill. it's not very casual.

Yeah I thought so too back in 2012-2013 when the first one came out. I felt like I was playing some junky game with shitty controls... Turns out it became one of my favorite franchises. So yeah... They really do put something in the estus of this game

When I played Elden Ring, I got the uncanny feeling that I had lived in that dystopia before.

You know, in this life you are not meant to engage all the time just with the ugly, decaying shit, perversion and so on. This shit happens along the way but it should not deter you on your way to truth and God. Fascination with evil, horror, harm and so on is unnatural and harmful for the soul. Yes, you can have a grim setting for a more meaningful purpose of telling a story with good morale, but when deterioration and depravity becomes a focus for the sake of it ("aesthetic") it is not 'art', it is the work of the devil. We all see those things which are tend to some form of integrity and harmony and not just suffering and degeneracy as the gnostic buggers say.

I never got past Majula because the atmosphere was just depressing, didn't like it.
