There's two ways I see this going.1. Immortality won't be available for 99% of the population, only for the highest echelon of the 1% that own everything. This way your bloodline is eternally in servitude to your immortal masters that feed you bug meat and shut off your digital currency if you disobey any order. They will become like gods unto those of short lifespans who will only ever know subjugation for all coming time2. Mass depopulation has to occur before immortality is rolled out as otherwise we threaten to use up the planet's resources too quickly until endless undeath takes us all. The remaining population that is allowed to live, indefinitely at that, become servants to the Life-Givers (previously mentioned echelon made gods) for they control who lives and who dies as through their manipulation of human DNA through vaccines will give them the ability and control to turn off someone's everlasting life causing them to die, which is already a scary enough concept for our current finite flesh but will be infinitely more terrifying when death becomes uncommon. Thus again subjugation and slavery but this time with the same set of slaves forever and aye.In scenario 1 humans become cattle and playthings of the nu-gods
In scenario 2 humans become pets and playthings of the nu-gods.Personally I don't think we should be messing with this. Losing loved ones is sad, yes, and we should use our sciences to prolong it as much as we can but Death is also a natural part of life and must come in order for the cycle to remain in balance. Darkness must overtake Light just as Light must conquer Darkness.
