I think for a lot of people it's a hobby. It fixates on Egypt, but maybe it's not disproven that all writing stems from Egyptian hieroglyphs. The first Emperor of China was buried with an army of stone soldiers for the afterlife. Where is the origin of such a practice? And where does Egyptian hieroglyphs come from? I'm pretty sure they claim it was given to them by Thoth. Writing is magic.

Pretty much, it’s pretty obvious the massive effect it has on American Christianity and its offshoots also.

Now for the ones I was getting involved with in the military (if you an officer you are automatically in other than that they fixate on young enlisted that keep their mouths shut) they are a lot more sinister. Freemasonry, Kabbalah, Hermeticism, Hinduism, Yoga, Mysticism, Alchemy, Esotericism... it's the same thing, the perennial philosophy or prisca theologia being experienced by different cultures. Jews, in their ethnocentric mindset, twisted kabbalah to be about them having to fix the world and cleanse it of Amalek and Edom (Germany, Armenia, Iran and the Christian West, according to rabbinic tradition).
