Real time effects change the looks and even the voice of the person. You'd probably not recognize them if you passed by them on the street.

Some stay energetic the whole time they're live.
Others don't, some keep it pretty mellow, but if you're only watching clips of them, you get a biased perspective and think they're always high energy too, because that's all you're ever seeing.
