I just found out I'm dying, and I'm trying to navigate those feels. I won't even make it to 35, and I just started planning a family with my spouse. I feel overwhelming guilt for taking their youth and dreams of having a big family, and for leaving them. I always lived my life as "one day I'll...", you know, like when I have a good life, a house and and financial security, maybe when I retire. Travel the world, put some effort into charity and volunteer work, try to make a difference in peoples' lives. Now, I look at my hobbies and I just think, "what's the point of this?" Why bother learning a skill that I can never use? Or playing this or that video game, when everything I do in it won't matter in a few years? Why entertain the idea of getting a degree or going into small-time politics or invest in my community? Everything is "what can I fit into the time I have left", versus a few days ago when it was "what do I want to do first?" I'm looking at projects I've poured years into, realizing now that I will never be able to finish them. I will never have made any of my dreams come true, because I just don't have the time anymore. I feel lost, angry, guilty, and I have so many regrets. I have to focus on the short term now - how do I make sure my spouse will be ok after I die? Draft a will, write down my funeral wishes, all my passwords, try to make as much money in as short a time as possible, look into life insurance. When the time comes closer, I want to record videos for them - birthday wishes, Christmas, Halloween, etc. - so they can still see me and hear my voice after. But I won't be there, for them or really with them, and I don't know how to get over it.I'm not sure if I just really need to feel those terrible feelings, or cover them with more hopeful ones. But if any anons have something related to this type of feel, post it.
