As time passes, I honestly believe more and more that having stable, good, loving parents is probably the most important and impactful thing a person can have. It fully shapes who you are, and the trauma of not having that foundation sticks with you for your entire life. It can be eased somewhat through selfcare but never fully. So it really does make me sad that it seems like the majority of people never grew up with those kinds of conditions, myself included. Funnily enough, the song gave me that sudden brain zap, that urge to be a father. Probably not the best reason, but it comes from a place of wanting to make it right. to be the one who's there, to be a true dad. To be lucky enough to have my own offspring run into my arms and know, no matter what, they have me.some day we'll have peace.
