How are there no monastic holy orders at start for any of the dharmic faiths, I get that the DLC was focused on Christianity but pre existing monastics would be good to spice up the mandala, celestial and Japanese government gameplay loops (having a pet holy order is good for the playing tall mandala loops and monastics slowly getting more and more importance over time due to their ability to simply grow over time, being a little buff for basically every non-Confucian religion, and their absence from the game at the moment feels weird.

you get so much shit from the royal court that boost development, activities, court roles, maa, knights that its a waste of time to be lower than a king in ck3. there are no playstyles that make it worth the while, i've tried them all already. if you absolutely want to be the lowest possible land there are cyprus, crete, kingdom of mann and canary islands, the smallest kingdoms while still having access to the court. you also want to always transition in to administrative government later if we are talking meta

I loaded up my custom character run, I was an Anglo-Saxon explorer again. I set off from the shore and navigated to the Sinai peninsula, carefully managing my food supply as I went. I made sure only to recruit white males to my band. Then I sailed from the red sea to Japan. When I got there I switched my camp purpose to swords for hire. After a few years of building up I declared war for the shogunate. My white knights easily beating the inferior slants. Once I made myself emperor of Japan I immediately began marrying the members of my band to Japanese women. I created a Hapa ruling class, creating a new Anglo-Saxon-Yamato culture, and set about settling the 1,000 year reichu. This is the 17th time I've done this campaign, but as soon as the EU5 converter is set up I'll transfer them over and continue there. Then, when the EU5 to Victoria II (2) converter is set up I'll convert it to that.

On my first playthrough I'm getting the feeling like picking China just because it was one of the tutorials was a mistake. My first generation was fine, just sitting around and building up my family and writing poems while governing and becoming grand chancellor. Second generation was mostly more of the same except I was never assigned land all the way to merit rank 2, so my income was bad. And then the era of division happened, and it seems like I basically can't do anything and will have to sit and watch until the next era since I can't make a significant army with this income and military cap. I thought I would have a shot at taking a governorship post-division, but the country my domicile is in doesn't even have a governor position and none of the non-war deposition options are valid. So I feel like I'm going to have nothing to do for another 1 1/2 generations until this happens again. All I really gained out of this generation that was different from the previous one was that I got inducted into witchcraft, which has been kind of funny.

Took ages but I finally got The Two Swords. Abductions wound up being the most consistent way to get both the puppets in a timely manner but if Alex 2 gets puppeted too early you're just kinda fucked for a while. Got my empire of Italia set up very nicely for Mathilda to die at the ripe old age if 55 and for her son to eventually take over Croatia and Serbia to unite the empire. I think once Ive comfortably played this run out I'll be going for The Heavenly Kingdom achievement

Is the new DLC/update broken? I was trying to do a Normandy run of CK3 with the new update and everything seems busted. Like the Roman rite is a tiny minority of Christianity, and more and more rites keep breaking off with no signs of stopping. Also one of Ivar the Boneless's children got the conqueror trait and took over all of Britannia, and even after taking Kent Christians don't have access to crusades, did they change how that works? The final straw was when a adherent of the Greek rite took over the Papacy, is that even supposed to happen? How are crusades ever supposed to happen now?Is this just due to bugs and poor balance because the DLC and update just came out, or is it because I don't actually have the DLC? I swear the one time I actually want to play as a crusader king this shit happens.

Has anyone dabbled on making a city-level total conversion mod?Every building would be a barony, owned by the mafia/gangs or regular landlords, your courtiers would be your tenants/renters, nomadic homeless camps, being an adventurer would either mean you are homeless or a renter depending on where your camp is and maybe once Silk and Silver comes out one might be able to simulate setting up shop and buying/selling products like milk, drugs and guns. Not sure how religion would be like. It might be a representation of a character's lifestyle or occupation, but there are also people who are actually religious as well. Maybe being a mayor would be an entire situation in and of itself, with citizens being able to vote on various matters that could affect the entire map.One issue would be the setting. At first I was thinking of it being a real city but that might be too creatively restricting, then I thought about fictional cities. Which one would be diverse enough for a game? There are the more fantastical ones like Gotham or Astro City which have superheroes and magic roaming around, and then there are more grounded ones like GTA. Another idea that came to mind would be Springfield from the Simpsons or Quahog from Family Guy. Maybe making an original setting from scratch would be the way to go?

Sometimes its fun to just play the viking adventurer as generic as it sounds. That being said i wish they did another pass at them and added more DLC focused stuff for adventurers. Being an adventurer that becomes a knightly order, if you're a viking or from that area you can do some varangian guard. Stuff like that.Also, have they said anything about looking at the family renown trees? They keep adding new trees but as long as the bloodline stuff is there most of them will never match them outside of RP stuff.

In admin gov, is it better for the treasury to have a lot of small direct vassals, or a few powerful vassals? heads up to anyone else: don't built grand cathedral in your capital unless you're already an ecclesiastic the building will be marked as disabled for not being held by an ecclesiastic. looking at the wiki I don't think it's intended for feudals and such to be able to do it but they can, for whatever oversight reason, and I'm under the impression the regional cleric fella can't benefit from it either. Alright, I'm giving up on my Normandy to Jerusalem to Outremer run, it's just cooked. I'm crazy strong, but transitioning from King of France to playing as one of my secondary heirs is just not working out. I mean, I could just make Jerusalem my primary title and give away all my other stuff, but that feels lame.Anyway, I haven't played CK3 in forever so it made for a good warm up run (I really like the changes to Accolades), and I want to do another run. Should I do another Siberia run, another Russia run, or a Wallachia run? I'm leaning towards Wallachia, probably with a 1066 start date, I've never played that start date and I've never played Wallachia. But maybe there's something else cool you guys think I should do? Siberia is also tempting.
