Ive been noticing my cannon that i have mostly for sieges losing a majority of their numbers anytime i have a battle. Do you want to stick them in reserves? Cause i currently just have them as far in the back lines as possible behind the rest of the regulars. Also, if i wanted to try and do a combined arms army where do you want to put the ranged units like arquebusier?

Unironically, I find EU5 harder to enjoy because I don't understand much of it. EU4 was very board gamey and easy for me to understand.EU5 is just a roleplay idler for me because I don't fucking understand how all the goods, markets, and buildings work.In EU4 I just painted the map in the order of the trade routes. In EU5 I just click green and try to kill the guys next to me. IDK what I'm doing.

people who like eu4 have no love of history, geopolitics, culture, or anything, they just blindly follow memes because there's literally nothing else to do in that game don't believe me? take a look [/vst/thread/2431755#p2478133] this user has installed a mod for various countries to have the "-chan" suffix or variations of it and made it his mission to blob the entire map with these that's your average eu4 player >LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS! no, all eu4 players are retards and the reason they don't like eu5 is because it isn't retarded enough for them, sadly due to the nature of populism and the sheer critical mass of these retards they actually have influence over eu5's development, and hence eu5 is getting worse and worse with every update pandering to these people

Just skipping through this. Anon doesn't think EU5 is a good game, Anon doesn't think EU5 is going to be a good game, the only version of EU5 Anon actually liked existed for about 6 days last November and the only defence Anon has for EU5 and is writing entire paragraphs over is that its not EU4 (even though it will be in like 9 months).

My biggest problem with trading is i have zero idea how impactful 10 of the 11 stats on the market screen even are. I know production efficiency is king, but outside of that if i had to choose between +2% trade advantage or trade capacity i have no idea what will actually impact my trade the most. If my Import and Export efficiency was flipped would i even notice? Sure the game tells me what it does, but i have no idea if what it does carries more weight then other stats. It works out well enough just setting it to auto and building the green buildings. But the economy has so many moving parts that its impossible to tinker with stats and numbers and know if what you did actually helped or if it was just part of the games normal income fluctuations.

EUV will never be good for the same reason Victoria 3 will never be good: it was not made to be a real game, but a DLC sinkhole to milk money from all the paypiggies. The only reason CK3 is considered "good" is because that fanbase will eat whatever slop it is throw at them as long as they can be cucks to their digital wife.

What are you supposed to do about Indian/Indonesian colonies as a European? So far I've been directly holding the market capital location and giving everything else to a single colonial nation vassal, I've now realized that's retarded as they have no control over their land and their liberty desire is huge despite having no standing army and practically no levies. Anon08/31/26, 19:12No.2479366
I wouldn't have tortillas anything like it is now, either in EU5 or EU4. Both games treat it as some completely sacrosanct agreement that carries universal ramifications, granted in EU5 every single nation just immediately disavows it, but this both does nothing and is incredibly spammy. Here's how I'd do it: >situation fires when two nations get land in the new world, as it is now >options for these nations are either "push for the treaty" or "downplay cooperation" >"push for the treaty" gives passive colonial migration speed boosts permanently >but you also accept tacit papal oversight >this includes negative events like random RGO size decreases (representing clergy combating slavery) >you can refuse these outcomes, but it costs religious influence and relations with the pope o algo >alternatively "downplay compliance" does NOT give you passive colonial growth, but unlocks more malicious practices like better production efficiency on good RGOs (representing rampant slavery with no oversight) >if you're too brutal eventually the pope can decide to excommunicate you and give you a permanent colonial growth malus as a huge scandal breaks out over christendom (this would represent a more expansive version of Bartolomé de las Casas's whistleblowing over spanish treatment of natives) Crucially I wouldn't have the treaty effect other catholic powers in any way. Plenty of catholic nations colonized other than Spain and Portugal, or at least tried to, and they suffered no ramifications from doing this. The reason other nations didn't colonize wasn't because they weren't allowed to, but because it wasn't feasible for them to. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_colonization_of_the_Americas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hospitaller_colonization_of_the_Americas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonization_attempts_by_Poland

A
Anon08/31/26, 19:39No.2479407
for the last time, low market access does NOT represent them being unproductive, it represents their products being removed from the centralized control and regulation of the market in question burgos is THE market galicia still makes shit, but they can't haul that crap to burgos easily, so their products are distributed among the local community hence market access increasing when roads are built

This game lacks so much basic QoL shit it's insane. >no way to build bailiffs by most local wealth, you have to keep switching between wealth map mode and the building screen >"clear and set filters" just clears filters, there's no way to set filters unless you're in one of the few menus that allows setting "favorites", which you can't save anywhere, making them pointless >location rank screen does not show rgo, so you have to continually flick back and forth between the two mapmodes >no way to filter sell art screen by sellable (above 40% rating) or by money received, so you have to either manually remember the names of the "timeless cow"s you want to sell or hover over literally every piece of art to see their value the more you play this shit the more tedious and annoying it becomes

What am I supposed to do about all the shit straggler buildings? For example, if I have a perfectly managed city on an iron RGO province, with tooling rights, with a level 20 tool building and then there's some random level 1 tool guild on the wrong RGO, not in a specialized city that the estates built. Should I: 1. Leave it open. 2. Close it, but don't delete it. 3. Delete it. My logical instinct is to close it for better margins on the specialized city, but I'm not sure if it's worth leaving around for the burgher jobs it creates even though it's inefficient.

I'm getting the impression based on reading what it does that I actually want my marketplaces on the borders of my country and not in the market center? Market access and assimilation speed seem more useful on the fringes than in the heart of your country, and for the rest like trade capacity, it doesn't seem like it would matter where you put them?

I'm trying to do a war in Africa and noticing problems with food, so I'm reloading saves and using it as practice for how to handle this. The food production/market stockpile is just not there, and even if I take over enemy land, the food runs out quick, so eventually I have to peace out early. I wondered if I can remedy this by importing wheat or something, but is that actually how food works? Do wheat/livestock/etc. add to the province food stockpile?

Also a lot of these red provinces are food RGOs, but it's just not enough. I've got 50k regulars there and they drain the stockpile in a couple months while sieging the next province. Pic is my colony's market stockpile after the war, which I guess did get completely drained when my army was there.

The food thing is also what made me finally check and realize why the pope constantly spams me with food requests and then canceling them after a couple months. He can't feed this army which he insists on parking here even though he has mil access. If anything this is what might make me finally attack him although we've been allied since the beginning of the game.

What happens to colonial nations in this game in the age of absolutism? The new world was a peaceful hug zone until 1660 or so, aside from my occasional visit to Mexico. Occasionally there were small rebellions but these were because I fed the Mexican land to that colony. At some point that colony also had a civil war but I attributed it to the same reasons. But then a different colony in South America, that never knew war: >had a civil war with nobles occupying 75% of the land >shipped over a small army to deal with the chores of mopping up land >on landfall, a vassal which this colony apparently had declares independence, so I go and deal with that while mopping up civil war occupations on the way >when the vassal is peaced out, Portugal's colony declares on them and then immediately wants white peace when they see me in the war which happens automatically of course >Annex their colony anyway >ship my army back to africa thinking it's finally over and I can do something in Europe >another independence war against the same colony, from probably some native culture I guess because this country didn't exist in previous autosaves (Lule) >looking at the war screen, I notice my colony's stability is -91 What happened. Don't tell me this is going to be the next 150 years, it's still a lot of trouble making the trip across the Atlantic
A
Anon09/05/26, 15:32No.2482579
Apparently the new rebels that spawned out of my colony aren't natives. The rebel nation Lule's official culture is Greek despite that being 4.44% of their population. Some of these aren't rebellions but an actual war declaration (like Portugal's colony) so I wonder what's causing them to think they can fight me. Even though my colony is -90 stability, why would Portugal's colony declare war now despite being massively outnumbered even without my help? Do they look at stability as a huge factor?

Am I supposed to grant privileges to all states to get my bonuses and value sliders in the first 20 or so years of the game respecting my government power (legitimacy, etc), or am I better off slowly revoking everything? It seems to me keeping all estates at 100% satisfaction through a combination of privileges, laws, taxation (specifically lowering it for the Clergy and other useless estates like Dhimmi and Tribes that won't contribute anything anyways) gives way better bonuses than high crown power, which just makes revoking easier and like 3 other things which don't compare to production efficiency, research and food production; on top of the bonuses the privileges give.

I'm not sure if it was because of the great freeze event or just me being bad and not having population stuff, but my capital went down in population from 100k+ to around 60k between the age of absolutism and the beginning of revolutions. Is it normally that impactful or is it just that I should have built differently? I don't really pay much attention to my capital anymore since it has too many buildings from when I built everything there instead of having specialized towns, and not paying attention to it probably makes the issue worse, but I don't know if this is normal or not.

on one hand i don't give a shit about hourly ticks because the game is slow as shit and i want it sped up on the other hand i hate content creators and them demanding they should be able to continually reinforce a battle that lasts weeks and weeks, removing all strategically necessity of actually having better/more troopsideal world for me would be day ticks, but battles are over instantly, so i get to see lordlambert, florryworry, the playmaker, and all the other sweaty tryhard cheesespammers cry

They will eventually remove control and add in an autonomy % instead.

i can see unlimited governors happening "it's balanced because you still have to pay to maintain them and you can only build them in cities"

The AI can't cope with fast battles. Fast battles were in on release, but you could consistently steamroll the AI while outnumbered and with a quality disadvantage because they couldn't counter a doomstack. That's why they made battles slower. If this were a good game created by a competent team, the AI wouldn't be an issue, and neither would hourly ticks. There would just be a tactical mode that you could enter during war that would include hourly ticks and they'd simply be disabled the rest of the time.

haven't heard a single person say anything about the timelapse feature, its gotten completely overshadowed by the hour ticks i loved the timelapse in eu4 and always thought eu5 had too many locations to do it without shitting the bed thank you for reading my blog

>haven't played eu5 in a while >decide i want to try a direct rule from lisbon portugal game where i use lieutenancies to get control over brazil >look up building to see if there's any special requirements >they removed its ability to be built in overseas locations >it is now just a worse version of a governor so not only does the game have almost no content, but what little content the game does have is actively being removed?

lets be real. most people only play around 200 years max. they should have front loaded all the content focusing around the discovery of the new world and the reformation. moving back to 1337 for the black death was such a retarded idea. it simply isn't compelling content.

what pops can be effected by the "expel pops" action? i've built a tall nation where every province in my home market has been depeasanted, i want to make my capital a metropolis (requiring 400k pops) but i can't get anyone to move there, even with encouraging migration and expelling pops from other states do laborers, burghers, nobles, clergy, etc just never migrate?

they should make the "ticks" thing a toggle in the game rules you can choose between hourly ticks, every 4 hours, every 6 hours, every 12 hours, daily ticks, and even 2 hour ticks that way everyone is happy

I don't get the push for mission trees since they won't actually solve any of the core gameplay issues people have been experiencing

Which heresy should I convert to for my Florence -> Tuscany -> Italy campaign? I think Calvinism is the most realistic choice if any at all, followed by Waldensianism. Lutheranism is a Germanic movement, the Cathars are French and Orthodoxy is Eastern. Calvinism pairs well with my focus on a mercantile empire seeking to control the world markets.

they should add a way to display your empire's population numbers including vassals, unions, colonies etc

Also it should be said that the Russian Siberia is such a massive self own to pick as an example of "unique" thing because that not only is not unique to Russia in EU5 but it WAS unique to Russia in EU4. If Lithuania or Ottomans or Sweden curb stomped Muscovy in EU4 they would not colonize into Siberia because they do not get Siberian frontiers. In those games you would get an unique scenario where someone else has to pick up the pieces with much later idea group colonist or something like Spain comes in from the other direction. In EU5 though all of them instantly just see empty provinces and start colonizing because the countries are all exactly the same. No such thing as English navy, just a nation with a coastline and that's probably 3/4ths of the relevant tags by 1500, such uniqueness much wow.
