I always like to get South Africa onside when I'm Stalinist as well, the idea of having another nuclear power in my tree house is as kino as having Red China in post-civil war. Imagine the meet ups. I do wish the devs gave you a more explicit option to control the direction of the Warsaw Pact's governments in a way that mimics the Ostalgie game's paths, such as if you are going Left Nationalist/National Specific Socialist then have the order go out for the Pact to adopt similar policies. It would probably do wonders for making the pact get along if they could actually be nationalistic (with the caveat of no actual infighting) instead of everyone pretending not too hate each other. Something like having Mielke adopt the Volkish socialism you can get in Ostalgie and the Polish trying to mix Catholicism and syndicalism would be cool, as it is the Warsaw Pact just kind of exists if neither you or they are collapsing. I know you can change their ideologies but it's less immersive then with the events.

alright, here we go. I downloaded the game to check if something major's changed since I last played or if the guy is just a retarded nigger who's bad at games, and what do you know, getting into the EU is actually not that difficult at all.It was a while since I played the game and they added a bunch of new stuff that I didn't know enough about to optimize. I wasn't min-maxing trade, didn't touch the third world save for Libya and a few other countries that you can take under your wing via an event. My reserves soared to a humble 1k+ at most, and that was in-game years ago. I entered the EU on March 1992, the earliest possible date. My economy went through a bit of a fluctuation due to a -25 across the board but I'm back in the green on all stats (I also only now noticed that Keynesianism doesn't like trade and price control that is too liberal so you can achieve this result while playing with a handicap for years).I eagerly await the moving of the goalposts.
