I think they're good ways to get to know Aerie's and Viconia's character, but I don't find the romance in itself that compelling. I certainly felt for them, but the problem is that you're Gorion's ward and you don't have a lot of iconic and good lines, you pick from a bunch of shit that doesn't really convey much of a personality. You have to project a lot and headcanon to really make it work, which is good for roleplaying sure. I don't know if interactive romances from other games really do it any better, it feels like you're just putting in the right code for it to work and romance is probably best shown as non interactive parts of games.

I know so much about Baldur’s Gate because the game helped me come to terms with who I am. When Edwin put on the belt and became Edwina, I also started wondering about my gender as a young teenager. My recommendation to get the most out of a play through of BG2 is to rotate all characters into your party for at least as long as it takes for their individual questlines to trigger, before going to chapter 3. When you do go to Ch3, take Aerie and Haerdalis so you can see their romance play out. You should romance Viconia rather than Aerie or Jaheira. You can still help Jaheira become a Harper and all of the Harper related events will trigger, though completing that entire plot line takes a tremendously long time

Furthermore, my recommendation on using BG2 romances to rotgoon is the following: push a remote vibrator plug up your anus, and use Claude to activate it when your in-game HP drops. I usually spend a lot of time on similar playthroughs on Fallout: New Vegas, but BG2 is even better for this, due to the often chaotic nature of combat. Put the plug on max setting any time Dorn talks to you for extra effect, and maybe ask a male friend to come jerk off with you.
