So I'm doing the challenge to beat all 3 games on Insanity in the LE, and I just beat ME1 tonight, 100%ed the content, moved on to 2 and did a little bit before stopping. Ok either ME2 becomes some serious bullshit later but insanity feels no different from Normal so far, this feels so much easier because how ME2 works is that you always get your shields deleted really fucking fast. Maybe it's FASTER in Insanity, I don't know, but I immediately beelined to the Kasumi loyalty mission since you can do it at the start for the stupidly OP Locust SMG, and the gunship fight felt no less bullshit than always. Meanwhile in ME1 I would pingpong from being completely invincible and dying in 1 hit because a Geth Destroyer ran up and smacked me in melee when Push/Lift/Stasis were in cooldown, I had far more instances in ME1 where I would just randomly die because of being so much as grazed by something that ignores barrier

ME1 has one problematic spot and that is Liara's mission, tight space with Krogan at the very end everything else gives you generous space even the rachni ME2 has multiple DPS check levels >oh you didn't kill Mechs fast enough in some warehouse, sprint across the room to the pillar that is not made out of styrofoam loser >Mechs break styrofoam crates in nanoseconds if you don't nuke them collectors have a few "fun" spots where you are forced to migrate or conserve ammo

Protip for higher difficutly Mass Effect 2: always bring Miranda. It doesn't matter what the mission is, bring her along. Unless your Shepard is a Sentinel, no other character has both Overload and Warp meaning she is your dedicated defenses stripper.

There's less bullshit deaths in ME2 than ME1 (no instakill bitchslaps or forgetting to turn on barrier when there's a sniper around). The Collector Ship will put hairs on your chest though.

The Collectors are a pain in the ass on insanity. I don't even have specific advice to give you, they're just horse shit. After all these years I have no idea how Scions work but I despise them. But I did beat it without looking up guides for loadouts and abilities so you should be able to handle it

I'm doing similar run, am currently on Feros and then i go to Virmire. in 1 gunfire is the least of your issues, in 2 it's the opposite.

ME2 on Insanity to me was by far the most annoying because every enemy had like 2 different shields and my cooldowns were so long that it dragged every encounter out.

is this game fun if you don't like the dating sim elements?

This thread is reminding me how fucking boring the combat in 2 was. I had almost repressed the lame "strip shield or armor while hiding behind cover, then blast their HP (repeat for the next 250 rooms in 30 missions)" gameplay. ME3 combat is more fun I guess, but you can't beat the arena shooter feel of 1, even if it's janky.

in me 2 and 3 if you want to minmax on insanity then go sentinel shield build

>ME2 becomes serious bullshit later A lot of the boss fights become bullshit and you have to conserve heavy ammo to fight them, but it's actually pretty consistently easy so long as you have the right class and a good build. The hardest class in 2 is vanguard because you're paper, followed up by engineer because lul no guns no biotics. It's somehow reversed in 3 because Engineer is super OP, Adept is a kek class because biotics need max CDR and can't combo with shields up outside of warp/reaver combos, and vanguard is the easiest class in the game because it deals enough damage to one shot bosses with no risk.

Played on insanity and it's hindering gameplay. Some enemies or bosses like krogans are just too tanky. Playing on normal on my shepard dies in me2 playthrough and it's too easy as you are fighting storm troopers that never hit and get oneshotted by a sneeze.

I once attempted what you now set yourself to, anon. I beat ME1, ME2, and stopped most of the way through ME3 because Kaiden died and I wanted to go back and stop that but I already fucked up my save by then so I just kinda got bored and gave up. Be better than me. Succeed where I failed.

OP here. Ngl, after getting all the shield upgrades and the one that makes it so shields take 20% less damage, my Sentinel Shepard can take an absolutely ridiculous amount of punishment before the shields break, it has made this insanity playthrough much less stressful. Also I just did the Collector ship and honestly only really 2 rooms were an issue since I have Warp Ammo now and that just tears through barriers and armor, and I picked Assault Rifle training so I'm back to Ol' Reliable aka pic related.. The bigger problem is that Collectors are just unfun to fight.

Man, that community patch and visual mod or whatever it's called sure improves the remaster. It's still not perfect but at least it gets things way closer and actually makes it look like Mass Effect again. It's crazy to me that they screwed up the lighting and everything where it changes the entire mood, and just thought that it was fine to release it that way.
