Pathfinder:Kingmaker. The entirety of Varnhold Arc. Constant paranoia about the crow, cool encounters, the final dungeon dive. Easily the best part of any RPG for me.

First that comes to mind is the Thief quest in Oblivion. You go on what seem to be typical fetch quests then you actually use the stuff from those quests to pull a big heist. Fuck it is hard to even remember games with quests they were so long ago.

It has all the multiple ways to do it depending on your build and it summarizes the whole Arcanum experience on its own (including the plot and twists)Planescape: Dak'kon's questFallout 1: The bunker you're supposed to go to to get the water chip. Oblivion has the best quests, and it's impressive considering there are so many of them. Often even the ones that are simple dungeon crawls have some unique thing going for them. Like getting ambushed by a rival treasure hunter and you either hand the treasure over, fight, or flee. Furthermore you can convince one of them to defect, and if one of them survives he returns in a later quest. Many other examples.Another favorite that comes to mind is Baldur's Gate 2, where you go to a village to investigate the problem they have. There's a lot going on, and you end up in an ancient temple. If you go there later when you need a cure for vampirism, there's even more to the quest.

Whodunit? from Oblivion. A sandbox-style murder mystery where you must eliminate five guests without being detected. You’re free to poison them, stage “accidents” like dropping a chandelier, turn their suspicions against one another, rely on classic stealth kills, etc. Pure emergent gameplay with tools/physics > scripted.

I'm a simple man and I like the "free the slaves" quest from BG2. I like being the new kid in town and just beating the shit out of the arrogant local mafia. I like that everyone treats you as a hero afterwards and I like how the Copper Coronet becomes your de facto HQ afterwards.

Baldur's Gate 2: The Ardulace/Phaere/Solaufein demon-summoning quest. One of the only good parts to the whole long boring slog through the Underdark, where you get to screw over both questgivers. The demon laughs its ass off as it turns on them and splatters them.Planescape: Torment : Any of the quests that require you to die to further the quest line. You can tell the devs had fun making it gruesome.Torment: Tides of Numenara Deliberately failing the first quest and dying before you even make it to character generation. With an achievement.
