This is the first time I've loved a SaGa game, in fact I think I might be addicted (Balmaint route)
I've played RS 1, 2 and 3, Frontier 1 and 2 and Minstrel Song. Out of those MS was the one I kinda liked but really the only thing I liked was glimmering new techs and RS3's commander mode
Scarlet Grace is different
The town are menus and there are no dungeons, but the battle system is just that great
Just thought I'd share, thanks for reading my blog

The battle system in this one sucks wtf? I hate the thing games do where each character moving is slammed up front to take up all of your screen. It breaks some kind of continuity and I don't like it. Soul Hackers 2 does this as well. The way SaGa Frontier did battles is how every SaGa game should be. I wanna see all my little fuckers in their formation against the enemies in their formation. I don't need a fucking stupid close-up shot of each character every time I input a command for them. It's stupid and lazy.

I do like the systems in SG and EB, but the battles are so slow paced with the animations that I lose interest quickly.

It's a weird game, even by Saga standards. I love the combat system and the art direction.
Really wish it had a more significant budget. Kawazu is a game director with a vision, but too many times he has been constrained by a lack of resources.

Also I like the mechanic that if a status effect fails, the next time you attempt to inflict it your chances will be higher

Is Unlimited worth getting into? I played Minstrel Song, RotS, a little RS3 and Frontier 2, and I still haven't made my mind up if I like the series

I couldn't get into it mainly because it feels too much like a gacha game. I won't say anything in particular about the battle system because I didn't get too far into it, but it's just weird not having traditional dungeons and exploration and it's just walking to nodes with 1-3 battles. It just feels weird. But then again I'm the kind of freak that clicked with Unlimited so I don't know.

Since I haven't been home for 5 days now, I caved in and downloaded the game for free on my spyphone
This time I took Urpina's route and holy shit it's way harder than Balmaint's, everyone has less LP, a lot of the battles are hard, there are no LP restoring wild cherries and I have a very shitty starting mage (but I just got Miriam so I hope things improve)
And she's the easiest character to get as a starter, how trollish

Welp, had to reload an earlier save because I apparently missed out on dual wielding for Urpina because I didn't take the boat to escape her home country
And I just reached Azhuacan too
I wouldn't do this for just any game, I like it that much

I liked SaGa 2, RS2, Minstrel Song, and Frontier, but I couldn't get into Scarlet Grace or Emerald Beyond. The combat is good, particularly in Emerald Beyond, but I dislike just about everything else.

I love SSG but for some reason I don't enjoy EB, thinking I'll just replay SSG all over again to get my Saga fix
