Kris is the only character that actually intrigues me. That's not to say I don't like the rest, they can be neat, but they don't go further than an amusing personality or punctual moving moments. Kris is the only one that actually keeps me playing. Trying to piece together what Kris wants, why and how is basically 90% of my interest.I realized this while thinking about things I cared for and things I didn't. The most obvious one is anything Suselle related. It's extremely predictable in the way it's been advancing, the only thing that could make it interesting to me would be for it to fail catastrophically and have Noelle go off the deep end over it, and even then it'd be momentary interest, not something that'd make the game for me. I don't care if Asgore and Toriel get back together (they're not gonna), I only care about how their relationship breaking down further might push Kris even deeper into depression and what that might cause. Susie and Ralsei going off on their own during chapter 2 was of no interest to me. I don't care that they bonded, or that Ralsei taught her a healing spell. I barely cared that Susie got mentored by Gerson because in the end, I don't care what Susie does with it except for one single case: What will become of it all once the big reveal about Kris happens. Don't even care about Gaster's potential reveal despite that being the community's biggest mystery for yearsDunno if anyone else will feel this way, but I really think if Deltarune didn't have Kris as co-protagonist of the player and the wierd ass relationship between (You) and Kris wasn't a central plotpoint, I just wouldn't care for this game. I'm not gonna say everything else is badly written or something because it's not, but to me, Kris and the dynamic between Kris and Player, or Kris and Susie, or Kris and Dess, or the possibility that Kris might just be a fucking monster (figurative) is what makes Deltarune unique and what makes it stand out from any other game.
