Spellblade and archer both need a bit of a revamp. Archer's trait should just be a 5% damage bonus regardless of height. Traps should stack higher Melee/ranged DPS should be brought more in line with caster DPS. The hit/miss table for physical damage should be +2, far fewer misses and more consistent damage with stats scaling appropriately.

There are parts of the game I really enjoy like the forced socialization, atmosphere and lack of hand holding but the more I play it the more it feels like a game that uses grinding to cover up for the lack of content and unfinished classes. If the remaining population that doesn't unsub is enough to support the gameplay, what's going to happen when they burn out, hit level cap or get bored of their alts? I don't trust blizzard and would prefer for this to work out but I think I'm going to need to see some big constructive patches to convince me to stay long term.

People are playing Shaman wrong. It's a red mage class, drops a 50% slow, drops necromancer-tier DOTs, and can put out AOE backup heals. It's like a hybrid necro/chanter/healer class that is highly underrated, and it can't do any of these things when it's stuck as a solo cure bomber.

I've been considering playing a pet class for a week now and so far the consensus I've heard seems to be that Elementalist starts strong, ezmode even but eventually ends up turning into hot garbage for both groups and solo play post 30-40 while Necro starts 'ok' and only ramps up in power until it feels better and better.

I've had group leaders say "I got a guy" like 3 times, and then we sit around waiting for "a guy" to find where we're at only for it turn out they were in the wrong zone the whole time because nobody ever checks or mentions where the fuck anyone is. Like, nigger, if you're in Night Harbor, don't invite people on the other side of the planet, and if you do, make sure everyone's clear about what zone the group is meant to be happening in. Maybe this is only a problem at lower levels.

I have bad news for everyone. A little birdie told me that necro, ele and beast pets are going to get nerfed into the dirt in an upcoming patch. The reasoning is apparently twofold, the first part being undergeared tanks bitching about how earth elementals or skeletons with pacts that sacrifice 40% of a necros life are apparently better at tanking than they are.The second part is maybe even more out of touch. Put bluntly, soloing to the devs is too "easy" currently, and they want to make it so that soloing as a pet class is unoptimal, miserable, and generally time consuming compared to grouping. As such, pet surviviability across the board in particular and DPS to a lesser degree is going to be decreased; the stated goal is to have both necros and eles only able to solo a light blue at the cost of all their mana and most of their health.

Were dual wielding fighters a meme in EQ. I can't quite figure why I should be dual wielding as a low level fighter vs using a big 2h or sword and boarding. Rend 2 as slightly more bonus damage than cross cut when you unlock the ability. Not only that if you were to memorize only crosscut and not Rend 2, you're really neutering your ability to swap to a shield mid-fight which is not an issue 2H fighters have to deal with. While sword and boards get superb survivability due shield block and shield slam being an actual damage ability which has been incredibly rare to unlock so far. I'm aware dual wielding gives you the ability to attack with the offhand (rarely) but I can't imagine that outdpses a giant 2hander.

Higher level wizards: something I've noticed on the wiki that seems to be neglected is that eldritch ward shields seem to remain at the same mana cost even as they scale in level. Is it maybe possible to just solo blues via maintaining the shield and autoattacking+spamming your volley while protected via the shield for infinite mana, instead of the root+run ratrace that many seem to be trapped in?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not some EQ player with nostalgia goggles, but from what I've seen from the community of players (despite them denying it to death) the most fun and optimal way to play involves you playing a solo pet class to 30-40 (more efficient than PUGs for XP given the peaks and valleys averaging out), then using the gear you can solo camp or simply buy to twink out another character that is not usually solo capable to smash through the early suffering levels.

I just don't get the point of this game. It was comfy and fun to start with but there's nothing to do but grind at a campfire to level and progress your class, except you pretty much unlock the entire class at around level 25 so you're just pressing the same 3 buttons over and over again for hundreds of hours to get gear with an extra 2 stats that increases your damage roll by 1? After the first time you group with a full party you've already experienced the entire game.
