I think the ideal mmo would be an Eve online style mmo but in a singular star system or at most between 3 star systems with a heavy front/focus on guilding and factions.

>ancient and jaded
Is it more or less ancient if you just want something different? I'm so tired of the same formula, even if you made the perfect execution of golden-age-mmo-updated-to-modern-times I'd rather just have something different instead.Someone should make Frackin Universe MMO with Terraria gameplay, except more challenging so it's more work to conquer areas. People raid planets and drain them of their resources, process those resources and build cities and space stations. Bosses inhabit territories in planets and are usually too difficult to solo, defeating the boss removes it's territory and allows clearing it of enemies and make it safe, but more will appear with time. Invasion enemies will try to reach any machines and storage boxes and will attack any nearby blocks.Make it very slow or expensive to get new planets so people will try to make the most of each and set up infrastructure to make it safe and easy to explore. Include Terraria corruption, given enough time it will eventually eat any planet and makes it uninhabitable, so there's a perpetual need to expand to new planets. Planets have a corruption resistance stat, cities will be built on rare high resistance planets that last for many months before being corrupted, and low resistance planets will be treated as disposable and quarried for resources.

It's less about the game and more about the community, I like older MMOs, because for many of them, the community hasn't changed that much. I guess I'd want a game that's easy to run, low on botting/scamming, regular updates, good sense of progression, and a meta that's balanced while rewarding skill. That's all to keep people playing and relaxed.

I just want a game with a lot of customization and different weird races that I can co-op with a friend. Also girls with fat tits

I just want a giant RPG with a myriad of fleshed out and unique quests, and not some fetch BS copypasted x100000000 times. That's what I always wanted MMOs to be.

I just want an MMO that doesn't pretend to be philosophical or deep about>there's monsters from hell/the void/parallel dimension, here's a set of weapons and armor, now go help defend our world or we're all dead or worse. Also, I don't want Raids, I want the inverse, I want to be the one defending from a raid from the PvE elements, Helms Deep and Minas Tirith style. like 50 players defending from a horde of hundreds of thousands of adds with bosses here and there.I don't want weapons and armors to be restricted to classes, hell, I don't want classes, I want skills and abilities to be avalaible based on attributes and level as well as achievements and completing quests and questlines.

something that somehow manages to ban any use of outside communication tools or discussion tools. no forums, no discord, no skype no teamspeak no anything, not even on your phone.
I just want people to play the game, exist in the game, talk in the game. Everything nowadays is all about moving outside of the game at your earliest possibility, why am I even playing if you want me to join your fucking discord so you can spam me with pings about "movie night" and shit? I just want to play the game with people, no one's interested in the game itself anymore, no matter what the game is. It fucking sucks.

From a purely game design standpoint. I would love something that plays like an improved version of a singleplayer TES game or STALKER but with a bunch of random people running around like in a mmorpg. Huge open worlds to explore. Very immersive. Not tab target. Probably first person or at least limited third person. Honestly spelling it out, would be something along the lines of Fo76, but in those universes and a more polished design formula. It seems like every other "mmorpg design" has already been done in some format or another. And I just don't see any of those designs being of interest to me with the way people play these games now.

classic wow but without the mmo role trichotemy. incoming pve damage gets reduced so the burden of needing dedicated healers and tanks is diminished, with more bosses having adds who have threat drops or simply have mechanics that cause healers or ranged dps to generate more threat, forcing melee to chase them down
