I'm back on city of heroes. There was some drama when this game came out of stasis and the server with all the people did not make new content for several years. This was because they were waiting for the licence. The new 36 main hazard zone/raid/story zones is one of the best pieces of raid content I have seen in a game. Up there with Uldur and Delubrum Reginae. The most recent patch in early december took the 2006 difficulty slider ( which went from negative one to four) and added +5 difficulty everywhere and +6/+7 in ( right now only a few ) end game zones. Suddenly the meta game is brand new again. Its not city of tanks, blasters and kinetics anymore, fking everything is viable. Player skill expression matters so much more and it shines through in this new old content. This is the first time i have EVER felt like my group needs a healer. I have to explain tanking vs offtanking to super strength invul gamers who are used to charging into a team of 500. Single target damage matters in almost every mission now - single target damage was mostly a novelty for the first 25 years of this game. AoE still matters. support is still king but you need two competent tanks. Shit has been a blast.We found some untested +7 missions on the live server and I've hosted a few impossible boss fights. New task force, new raids , whole new metagame that feels more like live than the last metagame did.its a good time for city of heroes.
