Because normalfags would rather pull out and fiddle with their phone instead of use some tiny ass overpriced poverty spec device. Their place got replaced with steam deck likes. Doesn't help that the web basically became more bloated.

i remember ~10 years ago in highschool, we did have netbooks were installed with some retarded linux distro.
- and the next school year my senior year they got replaced with new normal fag chrome books.I spent most my time in highschool reading manga or watching animu on some russian website on said netbooks

Since this thread isn't dying... the answer is that they never really caught on and the web became more bloated. You have to remember that when these things were on the market, the web wasn't THAT bloated and browsers didn't get updates that much. Cut to a year or so later, soon it's nearly impossible to have a web browser session without at least a gig or two of ram and a half decent setup. You have to remember, Netbooks were basically poverty spec devices that could just barely run games from the late 90s, that could have gotten a passable web browsing experience in the 2000s, but a good while into the 2010s with decent definition video was not really happening.
Eventually everyone got smartphones and everyone realized there was no point in netbooks.
It does suck, yeah, I do wish there was some decent addon for phones that added a keyboard and trackpad/ball for using your phone as a netbook replacement, but whatever...

I forgot about these! I used to play starcraft on my netbook circa 2009? Tablets are superior, I guess.
