I’m getting molested by so many decks while playing Paleo right now, I think I chose a rough time to come back. Especially since I’m in lower ranks so there’s a lot of jank going on. Clown Crew might as well have ash be searchable with their draw power, sky striker commits war crimes if they’re allowed to resolve Lemnis gate, and Kewl tune elfnote is just putting up so many interactions. It doesn’t help I’m bricking like a stonemason of course but it is what it is.

Has going second ever been this miserable? I have <10% chance going second right now despite 18 nonengine, including 2 in-engine board breakers. The semi-limit of Super Poly is really felt. Decks I used to have a chance vs like Azamina slop and HERO, I am losing to far more consistently going second. HERO opened 1 nonengine (droplet) and I opened 0 interaction and that droplet was enough to stop me when the rest of the endboard is taken into consideration (Shining Neos, x2 Contrast, Dark Law). Then there's going first. If your deck is Droll weak you might as well just suicide all month. Droll is everywhere and hard stops whether you go first or second. You need a plan vs Maxx "C" and chummies but you are simply blocked out if you can't handle droll. For that reason I am seeing less KT and RT on ladder and way way way more fucking Elfnote. Yeah Clowns and RDA didn't move the needle but the format still sucks ass

I was the MTG guys video on why MD meta bad. He is articulate but he misses the point. His biggest take is that if meta bad you are allowed to run counters for it. But FTK decks like Elfnote and Toon literally do not have counters. And most of the counterplay like chummies and duster are designed around bo3, you run that crap in bo1 and you are just making a high variance deck (this is why top 100 do not run cards with turn splits). He says Konami should allow mulligan or just ban the cancer. But the cancer is the new release so Konami is incentive to sell the hot shit. They're more likely to hit not-problem decks even if they're healthy, just to sell the new. The final problem is he didn't address that Konami has stopped killing decks for some reason like they used to. So the game feels like a rotation that started in 2024 and never stopped. It is literally the same problem affected MTG Standard format right now, a huge power crept format with a ton of releases that feels more like Modern and Legacy rather than a rotating format. Konami has a new core set coming next month.
