I'm probably a bit late to the party, but I just started playing this game. I entered with the belief that there were a lot of ways the story could pan out?I made an evil character and I literally just go around killing and taking whatever I want. But I'm running into an issue where I'm a hero anyway? Like it's railroading me into being a good guy.My brand of evil is ruthless self interest, and I don't do stuff for people who offer me nothing in return or annoy me. Goblins keep fucking with me, so I kill all the goblins. Knolls ambush me so I kill the knolls. Suddenly my character is being praised as a savior and shit.I accepted the wyvern poison from Nettie because I figured I could poison someone with it, and everyone acts like I'm this heroic martyr.I team up with a demon to kill some paladins and somehow the paladins were actually bad guys all along.I killed everyone at the goblin camp in self defense, and now I'm the hero of emerald grove?I would kill innocent NPCs for their loot but none of them have anything worth taking.10 hours in am I to stupid to be evil or is this game on rails?

The parasite plot sucks. There are no stakes. At worst they do nothing, at best they give you kinda-okay combat abilities and dialogue options that do the job but aren't as fun as character-driven checks.

Been playing an Honor mode run with my buddy, slow going cause we are being super careful after previous attempts lost early on. So far in act 1 alone we had Halsin die in the Goblin camp so the whole Shadow curse storyline kind of fucked up, we kind of straight up murdered Ethel in her cave by accident instead of letting her go, chose the wrong dialogue and all the gnomes in the forge died. Act 2 is probably gonna go wacky next.

BG3 doesn't have something like a hard time limit on the main quest? I'm exploring, doing quests and resting and i'm getting dialogues and cutscenes where my party members are freaking out and want to slit my throat. I can just take it easy and play the game and deal with the infection when the quest for it comes up and not turn after a certain amount of rests or hours played?

gonna rant about the astarion book for a sec Had high hopes for this book, I really did. friends of mine have read kingfisher's other work, said she did an excellent job handling horror/dark fantasy, yay great Then the leaks came out >hurrdurr that scene will prob make more sense in context!! >its the advanced copy, not the final copy >those are fake leaks, no way that's actually written in the book and then you glance over at her bluesky and find out she never played past act 1, and all her knowledge about pookie comes from tiktok. after signing with WOTC she replayed the game and this time got a bit further, but failed to meet Astarion's romance reqs and got broken up with in act 3, and then blamed the game. So not only was the author of the ASTARION BOOK fully deceived by his act 1 performance, that's actually how she views the character she wrote a whole ass book about. When this was pointed out to her, she went damage control and said she had watched all his scenes on youtube, including his romance.And then the whole ass book was leaked and all of the concerns that were brought up from the leaks were confirmed. Such as- >Cazador never forced the spawns to prostitute themselves out, Astarion fucked all those targets out of his own free will >Astarion has sex with animals in one scene, with no compulsion from Cazador >Gur racism removed, book makes it clear that he holds no sort of prejudice against them and even feels they deserve better >Astarion LOVES sex but not as a trauma response, once again, all of the spawn are fucking out of choice >Fucks Petras and Aurelia because he's bored and did you know he loves sex?? >Has sex with the author's boring ass paladin OC, even falls in love with him even though the game he says he's never loved anyone >Marvelesque humor galore, when he gets killed by the gur he literally goes, well THAT just happened! >He keeps making dick jokes >Sex scenes are gross and awkward >writing quality is something you'd find on Wattpad

I wouldn't savescum nat 1s if they gave them unique scenes over normal failures. A natural 1 should be a comical fuckup on the character's part. Like a nat 1 STR check results in overdoing it and breaking shit so it can't be used or repaired or an intimidation check resulting in the character stumbling over words and getting laughed at.
