If the IP goes up for sale, then another developer/publisher can purchase it, but who will take up the mantle? I imagine fans would want a reputable developer to do it, but that doesn't leave very many. Bioware was one of the oldguard legends of the industry, not many of them left.

it's less risky and more profitable to just sit on the IP to make EA look impressive for clueless investors and sometimes whore it out in tie-in deals like fortnite.If they make a game it will be some predatory live service GAAS with a gimmick that's 8 years out of date by the time it releases. The best part of Mass Effect's universe was envisaging all the rape taking place in it. all other details are there to flesh out an expansive well-developed universe for an especially immersive porno in which these rapes can be set.It was a mistake to move the setting to Andromeda.
