It's good for screenshots. If you can stomach it in movement is a different question and depends on the kind of game. It's a niche solution for slow games thwt yields somewhat impressive results that get muted if you are aware that a huge part of it would already be done by just fixing HDR. It's a framehog because nvidia suggests that it should run on PT to run properly and will not substitute it. That means you need to compound 4 techs that give you worse image quality during movement. The ai filter, upscaling, framegen and PT itself. So its use, as it is now, and with current top of the line performance is very limited and niche. In my opinion it's useless for gaming in its current state unless your gaming experience is using photo mode 99% of the time. If the problems get fixed it will be nice, but nvidias track record with the other techs suggest that fixing the problems is only an afterthought and will take years.

The main issue with DLSS is that it sharpens and contrasts the people too much, but not anything else. So basically you have something that is clearly 100% more sharper than the rest of the game and with a different light source rather than the in-engine light. It makes it look like those cheap porn visual novels made in DAZ passed through a FaceApp filter.

First it was path tracing. AMDjeets were already salty because games with PT not only look better, but only really ran with Nvidia hardware. But now they also have DLSS 5 to deal with. At this point, AMD is barely any different from a console. I don't care what resolution or your FPS counter says, because when people actually see your game, the image quality in screenshots and gameplay YouTube uploads looks exactly the same as the PS5 version. Higher numbers on a performance overlay mean very little when the end result is visually indistinguishable from what a console is putting out. AMDjeets are well aware of this, there’s now a massive visual gap between games running DLSS5 and those without it. That’s why they’re completely thrown by the difference. And this is just the first version, it’s not widely implemented in many games yet, just a rough mod added into some Reshade. As models and performance improve, the frustration will only grow, and it’s awesome to see it AMDjeet meltdown in real time.

I've been using it in an RDR2 playthrough because everyone just posts screenshots without actually spending any time with it on. For the most part in this game it's only really noticeable in cutscenes and the inferred lighting can change between different cuts. Sometimes night is brighter than it should be and the day-to-night transition looks weird. HDR causes low-light scenarios to have flickering artifacts but I think that's due to the mod.
