>The remake looks exactly how I remember it as a child.
>This is exactly how I remember it looking when I was young.
>This is what I remembered it looking like when I was a kid.
What is this psy-op nonsense?

I’m begging people not to buy this game. It’s the third time they’ve released it. Just play the original on emulator.

I'm pretty sure I've seen gay pride parades that are less homosexual than the types of people who come to /v/ reposting smartphone screenshots off of tiktok

This type of marketing is so dishonest because it pretending them remaking this iconic game is doing a great service to gamers when it's actually just the industry manufacturing consent to bury old games and just replace them with new slop while they remove your legitimate avenues of access to the OG.

you see zoomie, back before it was the norm for tiktok and youtube to decay someone brain before they could say their first word, kids used to have this thing called an "imagination" and every old video game took advantage of the imagination's ability to fill in the details of things. This allowed an icon of a single guy holding a spear represent an entire army of guys holding spears

People literally only communicate in noise nowadays. This is simply the thing you're meant to say so people say it wirjoi really thinking about whether it's actually true or not. It's a really fucking weird phenomenon. Like they don't even think about the contents of what is being said, it's just a line that is used so often that when all the surface symbols fall into place (remake, improved graphical fidelity) the command just gets executed by the brain automatically. Humans are unironically not so different from LLMs. They have some predictive model about what words should be said, without having any actual thoughts regarding those words.Idk man I can't really explain it but I get the same feeling as you OP, whenever I see it. I always just think "what the fuck are you talking about? the original OoT has always just looked like og OoT in my head, because that's literally what it looks like. and there's probably some subset of people that, when they're told this, execute the next sentence of their predictive noise model brain and will output a sentence like "oh you're just lacking imagination" or whatever.

I’m in a group chat with the “people” I work with and over half of them were absolutely redditing out over the reveal, acting like they’d never fucking seen a 3D vidya before. But, these are also the same people that buy every Pokémon release and queue up for cards so I guess they’re used to willingly eating shit served up to them by Nintendo.

I don't get it either, when I was a kid I knew that video games were low poly and far from realistic. I mean i just used my eyes but The only real difference between now and before was I didn't notice the texture seams and how muddy textures were but that was probably only from the fact I was playing on a low res crt TV

Games aren't art. When a movie gets remade people are upset interesting puppets and colors are washed away for generic action Grey
A video game gets remade using generic unreal engine assests for as cheap as possible and retards declare it definitive and le actually you're the weird one for not consuming

I'm a millennial who grew up with OoT so I'm the target audience for this nostalgiabait and it makes me feel nothing. Its like if somebody repainted a Rembrandt and said "See? It's the same painting you always liked! Just updated and better!" No bitch, you made something else. Even though I don't give a shit about it I'd much rather have the FF7 remake style of just making something completely different that doesn't even pretend that it's faithful to the source material

A lot of games look worse when you come back to them, because your kid brain filled in the blanks or imagined detail or depth of interactivity that wasn't really there.
If you thought as a kid that a game world was this bustling real living city, and then you come back to it now, you'll be disappointed. But you can make an old looking game that's actually as deep and simulated as you thought games were back then, that's when games stop being like they were, but how you remembered them.Personally for me, it would be Amiga RPGs where I thought they were these complex full worlds and they just never, ever were.

It's true though.Every time I go a while not seeing footage from some beloved games from my childhood, I kind of start just remembering them in extremely vivid detail, essentially with better graphics and much more details added. That's the difference between slop and soul. When a game has soul, it conveys ideas and feelings that go past what pure graphics can do.
